HIGH COAST WINTER HIKE

PROGRAM

It’s always nice to get a quick overview. Below, you’ll first find a general day-by-day outline. Further down the page, there’s a more detailed program for each day.

However, there’s no need to memorize this, just make sure you come physically prepared and bring the mandatory equipment you have tested before arrival to FriluftsByn, and we will handle the rest on-site.

ONE ADVENTURE, TWO GROUPS

DETAILED PROGRAM

The following times are preliminary and may change during the adventure. We always adjust the details according to weather and conditions to ensure you have a great challenge but also an enjoyable adventure. During the hike, you’ll find the latest information as you arrive at and hike out from each campsite. If you have questions, feel free to ask the guides along the trail—they’ll be at the front, back, and at designated points along the route in each group.

WEDNESDAY 5/2

Most participants arrive on Wednesday to prepare for the adventure in good time. As a participant, you can camp free of charge in FriluftsByn, and if you’re not an experienced camper, it might be a good idea to camp there from Wednesday to Thursday to ensure you have everything you need. On Wednesday evening, we’ll also hold a short course on winter outdoor skills. It’s a good session to attend if this is your first winter adventure.

08:30 – 09:00: Check out from the campsite and hike at your own pace along the High Coast Trail towards the top of mount Skuleberget
09:00 – 09:15: Both Expedition and Explorer participants can leave their tents and sleeping bags with the transport vehicles at Entré Syd, about 900 meters (15 min) along the trail. We’ll provide bags and tape so you can label your gear with your name and phone number. Your equipment will be waiting for you at FriluftsByn. This is recommended for a lighter last day hike.
09:30: Bus transport for Explorer participants from Entré Syd to Getsvedjeberget.
14:00 – 16:00: Finish at the top of Skuleberget
Shower and freshen up in FriluftsByn
16:00: Headlamp Hike down Mount Skuleberget
17:00 – 22:00: After-Hike at FriluftsByn’s Living Room

TIPS:
To reach the top of Skuleberget at a comfortable time, it’s smart to start hiking around 09:00. Make sure to drop off your tent and sleeping bag so you can enjoy a lighter pack on the final day.

You’ll have your last freeze-dried meal for lunch on Saturday — the best lunch spot is Getsvedjeberget.

Explorer participants hike the full distance from Entré Syd to Skuleberget, while Expedition participants take a bus between Entré Syd and Getsvedjeberget, making the final day’s hike about 8 km shorter.

Since the Expedition group covers roughly 15 km on the last day, we strongly recommend leaving tents and sleeping bags with the transport vehicles heading to FriluftsByn.

Sunday 9/2

08:00 – 10:00: Breakfast at FriluftsByn’s Living Room (120 SEK)
10:00 – 12:00: A cozy get-together in the Living Room
12:00: Check-out from accommodation
The Top Cabin open 11:30 – 15:00
Fjällräven Outlet open 11:00 – 16:00

The adventure officially starts Thursday at 09:00, but we kick things off early on Wednesday evening with a basic course in winter outdoor skills at 19:00.

We all take buses out to the hike’s starting point. Expedition departs first, followed by Explorer.

We set out together, but hike at our own pace. Guides will be at the front and back, and you’ll also encounter guides along the trail. They are there to assist if anything should happen.

In the evenings, we meet up at the shared campsites.

The adventure ends at the top of Mount Skuleberget and the World Heritage High Coast before we head down for the After-Hike in FriluftsByn.
