1. PACKING-LIST WINTER HIKING

– What do I need to go winter hiking?

Many overestimate the equipment needed to go camping in the winter. There is not a big difference from what you need for a summer hike. Some more insulating layers, a thicker sleeping-bag (or two where you place one inside the other) and two sleeping pads (one inflatable and one regular) to get better insulation from the snow is usually enough. You will stay in your tent for two nights. If you happen to have gotten a bit less sleep one night just take the shorter pleasure-rout the next day and take a nap once you arrived at the night camp. The most important thing is that you get the best and mot joy-filled experience.

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

We will lend you snowshoes thanks to TSL and you will get that as well as gas for the stove when you check-in. If you have an outdoor kitchen that doesn’t run on gas you’ll bring your own fuel. We got you’re food covered from Thursday lunch to Saturday lunch, snacks, sweets, coffee tea you’ll bring yourself. When you check-in you’ll receive two breakfasts and three meals – we host a barbecue on the second evening at camp Kälsviken which is why you don’t need freeze dried dinner that day. You will get all meals at check-in, pack them in your bag and eat whenever suits you the best. That is also why it’s a good idea to do one last overview of the packing once you checked in and you received all your food. You cook the meals by boiling snow to hot water which you then pour over the food, wait 10 minutes, and voila. Deliciousness in a bag.

2. HIKE WITH SNOWSHOES

– Easier than you think.

Depending on forecast and the amount of snow, a larger part of the hike will be with snowshoes. The Classic-rout on day two you will definitely need to wear the snowshoes since snow depth usually is around 1 meter at least, Snowshoe rentals are included in the registration fee. We will also meet Henrik from TSL who will show us how easy it really is to adjust the shoes and you’ll also get the answer to what that little metal bow thing is in the back of the shoe and what it does.

3. HOW YOU GET THE BEST EXPERIENCE

– Naturkompaniet share their best tips!

During lunch before the busses arrive Naturkompaniet will be here to help you with adjustingz your backpack properly. 6. A FEW WORDS FROM PREVIOUS WINTER HIKERS

– How hardcore is it? How is it to sleep outdoors in the winter?

You probably already have most of the equipment needed to go winter camping. If not you can most likely borrow from friends or ask in the participants group om Facebook.
